EVERGREEN Traditions
At Evergreen, traditions are part of the core fabric. They are a reminder of confidence and connection.
Each summer begins with the Tater Tots exchange, a camp-wide pen pal game where every girl writes to a mystery friend and tries to guess who it is. It’s a simple way to make introductions that turn into real friendships.
There’s Juniper Day, when the oldest campers have the run of camp, and Pine Cone Club, a celebration for girls who have spent five summers or more at Evergreen.
Campfires open and close the season with stories, songs, and reflection.
During the closing campfire, each unit makes a wish for the year ahead and lights the Evergreen Tree, a symbol of truth, love, health, friendship, and kindness.
The story behind it reminds everyone why evergreen trees keep their leaves through winter: they show kindness when others might not.
