Kenwood For Boys
Role Models
The Kenwood side of camp is led by men who set the tone through example.
They’re coaches, teachers, and mentors who know that boys need structure, humor, and steady support.
Staff are chosen for character first, then their specific camp skill.
They’re constantly modeling what it means to try hard, treat people well, and take care of each other in every moment.
Staff and counselor know campers as people, understanding what motivates them, and helping them grow into the kind of young men others want to be around.
Jack Schott
Jack leads Kenwood & Evergreen with energy, warmth, vision, and a belief that summer at camp is one of the most important experiences in a kid’s life.
His approach is simple: healthy competition, real choice, steady growth and fun, always fun. If kids are trying hard, playing fair, and a laughing a bunch, then it’s mission accomplished. Jack wants kids to feel surrounded by people who know them, believe in them, and cheer for them.
Jack has spent his career living and breathing camp. Starting as a counselor and director at Stella Maris, he went on to co-found and bootstrap Camp Stomping Ground, a nonprofit summer camp giving thousands of children the chance to experience summer away from home.
He has visited and worked with more than 200 summer camps, studying what makes them tick and thrive. Using this experience, Jack has trained thousands of camp staff on leading with care, setting high expectations, and creating communities where kids can grow.
Jack and the camp pro other camp pros turn to, writing a weekly newsletter read by more than 6,000 industry pros.
What matters most to him, though, is not the big picture of the camping world. It is the daily experience of every child at K&E.
Every camper should feel challenged, supported, and inspired. Under his leadership, K&E is a place where kids return home more confident, more resilient, and more connected to who they are becoming.
Josh Williams
Josh came to K&E the old-fashioned way: he lined up at a hiring fair in Manchester, UK, saw a crowd, and got hired on the spot. Thirteen summers later, he’s worked his way through nearly every role at camp and now serves as Assistant Director.
Originally from Dewsbury, near Leeds in Yorkshire, Josh brings a love for people and an instinct for making everyone feel like they belong.
He’s represented his state in three different sports (rugby, cricket, and lawn bowls), co-founded OSO to help American students find summer camp jobs, and once U-Hauled 100 arcade games to camp.
What Josh loves most is how much we impact each other without realizing it. Think: the random campfire friendship, the laugh in the bunk, the small moments that create the bigger culture.
His favorite tradition is Color War song and cheer.
Josh thinks of his role as being the surrogate parent for the summer. He hopes campers leave as better people, the ones who speak up when something isn’t right and step up to lead.
Shaun Chivers
Shaun first came to K&E in 2016 as a general counselor, invited by a former staff member, and never looked back.
Over six summers, he’s served as counselor, unit leader, and now Camper Care Coordinator (oh, and he makes a mean batch of popcorn).
Originally from London with a degree in international banking and financial planning, Shaun brings an open mind and a listen-first approach to camp.
What Shaun loves most about camp is how the same schedule feels different each year thanks to unique personalities. His favorite tradition? Rope burning—simple, competitive, and requiring full teamwork with zero preparation advantage.
Off-season, Shaun works in financial advice, runs his company’s social committee, perfects focaccia recipes (described as “the best in the world”), and travels with his fiancé.
He hopes campers find a place they call home and can’t wait to return to for seven short years.
Greg Golf
Greg brings 19 summers and 14 years of professional camp experience to K&E, including 18 summers as a camper and roles as counselor, seasonal leader, and director.
Originally from Austin, Texas, and based in Santa Barbara, California, Greg holds a Business Administration degree with an entrepreneurship minor from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He’s co-founded a music festival production company, directed operations at a private school, started a dog adventure service, and worked as an event producer, ranch hand, and referee (yes, all of that).
What Greg loves most about camp? Jokes, banter, youth development, and playing sports and games. His favorite memory is reading his mission statement, a declaration of the man he’d become, in front of his home camp in 2011.
Goofy, driven, and eccentric, Greg can move on the ground like an inchworm and brushes his teeth outside. He hopes campers become their true authentic selves and develop real leadership skills.
