Leadership Program

At many camps, “leadership” means training to be a counselor someday. At Kenwood & Evergreen, it means something more immediate and lasting.

Older campers earn credibility by mentoring younger ones. Through the **Big Brother/Big Sister** program, every Juniper girl is paired with a freshman girl, and every Hut 6 boy is matched with a freshman boy.

They share activities, cheer each other on, and look out for one another. When older campers head into town, they often bring back a small treat for their “little,” strengthening the bond.

This kind of leadership isn’t about managing people. It’s about modeling kindness, taking responsibility, and creating a culture where younger campers feel seen and supported. By the time they graduate into staff roles, they’ve already been practicing real leadership for years.

This is what leadership looks like.
