The passing of our longtime Camp friend Jim Morris

One of the hardest parts of being such a close-knit camp community is when we have to say goodbye to someone we love. Sadly, on Friday we learned of the passing of our friend Jim Morris.

Jim was a member of the Kenwood and Evergreen community for more than 20 years. He began as one of our bus drivers, and quickly became known for his love of all things K&E. He cared deeply for every camper and counselor, and since his passing we have delighted in seeing how many wonderful stories have been shared about his loving and generous spirit.

For more than a generation he was the most enthusiastic cheerer on the sidelines of tournaments, and the guy you could count on at 3am to get a group of campers safely off of a mountain in the midst of a thunderstorm. He was always kind, always caring, and always up for helping people in any way possible. He truly wanted to make this world a better, happier place.

14 years ago Jim stepped into the role of Transportation Director, and he held that position in our leadership team for more than 10 years. In 2015 Jim chose to retire in order to spend more quality time with his family and revel in his role as loving husband, father and grandfather. Thankfully, he still visited us periodically, and still maintained close friendships with the Camp friends who meant so much to him.

As of yet no plans for his funeral have been announced, but when they are we will share them with the Camp community. We will miss our friend Jim Morris, and send our most sincere condolences to his wife Paulette, and his entire family.
