Going into my freshman summer back in 2013, I truly didn’t know what to expect. I was sent to a small town in the “middle of New Hampshire,” with no further description of this unknown place. I was too young and naive to fully understand what kind of major life milestone I was foregoing.

As any 8 year old would be, I was clueless as I stepped off the white proctor bus onto property of Camps kenwood and evergreen. To be honest, I’m not sure I even knew the formal name of camp my freshman summer. Despite the fact that I didn’t know where I was, I had an unimaginable first summer away from home. Of course I was homesick at times, but I will never regret coming to the kenwood-evergreen community. Now believe it or not, I am going into my final summer as a camper. Time truly has flown by.

The friendships I have made throughout these 7 years, are some that outshine the friendships I have with my friends from home. I foresee myself attending my camp friends weddings in the far future. The memories I have made at this camp in the “middle of nowhere New Hampshire” are ones that have made a lasting impression, not only on myself, but on my life.
