Help For First Time Campers: The Official Camps K&E Encyclopedia

Camp is less than 90 days away, and we just could not be more excited. Invitations for the May 17th New Camper Party in New Rochelle will be going out later this week, and the phones are ringing every day with new parents calling with really good, important questions about this summer. Just a reminder, in the past few weeks we have posted these blogs designed to help our newest campers and parents know the in’s and out’s of life at our brother-sister summer camp in New Hampshire. If you have not yet shared these with your new camper please consider doing so this week, as each of them has been designed to help them feel more prepared — and less anxious — for their upcoming summer adventure.

Today we also want to share another piece that we have prepared to help our first time campers get ready for the summer: The Official Camps Kenwood and Evergreen Encyclopedia. It’s 14 pages of full-color photos and explanations of our overnight camps’ traditions, facilities, leaders, and even our pets.

I want to download a copy of the Camp Encyclopedia!

We find that many campers enjoy making this their Spring bedtime reading, as it helps them grow more familiar with how our community works. Other campers simply enjoy perusing every now and then. Either way, we’d appreciate it if you printed it out for them. We want to do everything we can to help our first time campers feel prepared for their summer adventure!

If you were new to overnight camp wouldn’t you want a resource like this?

If your child reads this and says “but they didn’t mention…” please send us an email. We’ll be happy to answer their question, and we’ll make sure to include it in next year’s Camp Encyclopedia. We’ll also send them a little K&E gift, as we always want to reinforce the 21st century skills of speaking your mind and asking good questions!

For 85 years Camps Kenwood and Evergreen has been the beloved summer home for children from around the United States and across the world. We offer 4 and 7-week sessions for young people interested in making incredible friendships while honing their 21st century skills.
