To meet our mission we have assembled one of the most experienced camp leadership teams in the country. Combined, we have spent more than 200 years at Kenwood & Evergreen, and more than half of our administrative staff began here as campers. We are more like a family than a group of co-workers, and each of us is dedicated to creating the most enjoyable, intentional, child-development focused overnight camp experience possible.
Owner & Director
Scott has been the Owner & Director of Camps Kenwood & Evergreen since 1996. As a camper, Scott discovered his strengths at K&E, making lasting friendships that continue to this day, learning how to be a good teammate, friend and leader. He returned to K&E as a Bunk Counselor and in the summers that followed served as a Unit Leader, Head Counselor & Assistant Director. As a 21 year old, he shared his aspiration to one day direct Kenwood & Evergreen with his mentors Arthur & Judy Sharenow, and together, they were able to make that dream come true. Scott is also the Founder of Everwood Day Camp and operator of Camp Sewataro, both in MA.
Josh joined the Kenwood and Evergreen family in 2012 as a General Counselor. He graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2014 with a bachelors in Sports Coaching, before flying across the Atlantic to become a full time member of the Kenwood & Evergreen Leadership Team. While at college Josh worked for the UK Government delivering sporting instruction in partnership with the London 2012 Olympic Games, increasing the accessibility of sports for young people in the community. He represented his county (state) at both rugby and cricket.
As Kenwood & Evergreen’s Assistant Director, Josh plays a pivotal role in all facets of year round camp operations. He is primarily responsible for the staff hiring, programming and staff culture. However, he is also a key member of our internal marketing, events, operations, finance teams. Josh lives in Boston throughout the year and heads north for the Summer. He loves music festivals, sports, traveling and helping our staff extract as much from the camp experience as he did!
Director of Camper Experience
Matt is involved in every aspect of camp, focusing on the experience that our campers (and families) have right from the beginning of their time with Kenwood & Evergreen. Matt meets with new campers, communicates with families and makes sure our facility and program continue to meet our high standards. Summer camp has always played a large role in Matt’s life; since he was a kid Matt has been a camper or staff member, including working at his older brother Andrew’s day camp for several summers. After graduating from the University of Maryland and spending six years as a “suit” in the corporate world in NYC, Matt decided to take his passion for camp and make it a career.
He joins K&E after two years as the Associate Director at Crestwood Country Day Camp in Melville, NY and prior to that he spent three years working as Associate Director at Breezemont Day Camp in Armonk, NY. Both Matt’s niece and nephew attended Kenwood & Evergreen as campers for several years, and he was able to see firsthand the type of community and care that exists at K&E, and is excited to be able share that with other families. In his spare time Matt enjoys going skiing, going to see live music and is a founding member and board chair of the Round of a Lifetime Foundation. Matt lives with his wife Michelle, daughter Ava and dog Buddy in West Caldwell, NJ.
